The renowned publisher has appointed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the anticipated over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Management Shift Follows Poor Response

Brinkman assumes the leadership position at the development studio following the departure of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' disappointing early showing last autumn.

Recently, 2K president a key figure informed employees about this organizational change through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the requirement for a more defined game identity.

The president stated that the developers is now refining Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to address gamer demands.

Dear Team—

I know you all just wrapped up your meeting - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the recent updates. Previously I shared you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most driven and creative creators we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re eager for that relationship to persist.”

Through your commitment and adaptability, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.

The community feedback from last autumn’s the game demo was enlightening. It validated the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the necessity for a more distinct vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You took the feedback to heart and overhauled the title with a revitalized vision - one that’s poised to deliver on its ambition to our players.

The belief in Project ETHOS increases every day. To further the outstanding progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce Ben Brinkman as the latest Studio Head of 31st Union. Following some time of conversations, he officially joins us on Monday, October 20.

His leadership and experience in the competitive gaming field is considerable, having devoted the recent years creating and leading some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, for example the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, Apex Legends.

Please join me in greeting him soon. We are all eager to keep witnessing the development of Project ETHOS in the months to ahead.
