One ranking policeman who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a blade-wielder has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Valor.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a knife to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the officers and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in the area in mid-2023.

Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.

"Officer attacked," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and dashcam footage released by the force showed Brown, that was clothed in black with a head covered, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon extended.

He ran into the policeman who stumbled and went down to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the ground even though being multiple times hit with the knife.

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a open target, concluding the struggle to an end.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "I need something on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple open wounds to his neck and further injuries to his limbs and torso, whereas Sgt Foster suffered cut injuries.

Officials stated Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his partner's hemorrhaging prior to paramedics came.

The latest honor comes after the law enforcement team won organizational Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area officer association in early 2024.

They additionally received a Regional Valor Recognition in summer 2024.

"The actions of the entire team eventually saved one another and resulted in no bystanders suffered any harm."

Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, according to authorities.
