Helicopter Spins Out of Control into Palm Groves at Popular California Beach
A chopper soaring near a popular coastal shoreline unexpectedly started spinning uncontrollably, finally losing altitude and smashing into a line of palm groves as spectators watched.
Footage posted on the internet depict the helicopter beginning to twirl over Huntington Beach then falling near the perimeter of the beach, where it gets stuck between palm trees and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Information
Emergency responders stated five persons were transported to a medical facility involving a pair who were in the aircraft and were “rescued from the debris” following the incident on the weekend.
Three people on the pavement were hurt. Information on their wounds were still under review.
What led to the incident was still under investigation.
Planned Function
The department said the aircraft was associated with an annual “Cars and Copters” charity gathering set for the following day.
